Lorraine Foster 'We'll
Meet Again' Songs of the War Years
"We'll Meet Again" recorded by
Lorraine Foster in 1999, showcases 14 wonderful songs written mostly from 1938 to 1945,
with selections by Harry Warren, Julie Styne, Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, Ted Heath,
Erskine Hawkins, Sammy Fain and Rube Bloom. These songs were all big band hits from
the War years and two of them pay tribute to the great Vera Lynn. Lorraine's
favorite cut is 'London By Night (Ted and Moira Heath)/A Nightingale Sang In Berkley
Square, accompanied by Oliver Jones.
Lorraine Foster learned her craft where many of the legendary vocalists of the big band
era found their inspiration, singing with the bands. Working with the best musicians of
Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver has given her the ability to deal with both the music and
the words in her own unique style. Lorraine has another wonderful CD entitled 'Live At The Alma'
containing a great selection of her favorite
jazz vocals and recorded live at the Alma Street Jazz Cafe in Vancouver. She can
usually be found in Vancouver performing with the legendary Dal
Richards and his Orchestra. |
